Stoprrhea is an antidiarrheal medication containing loperamide hydrochloride. It acts directly on the intestinal wall by binding to opioid receptors, reducing intestinal motility and prolonging the transit time of intestinal contents. This allows more water and electrolytes to be absorbed from the intestine, resulting in firmer stools and less frequent bowel movements. The medication does not affect the underlying cause of diarrhoea but helps control the symptoms and reduce fluid loss.
