Active ingredient:

Moxifloxacin hydrochloride 27.25 mg (equivalent to Moxifloxacin 25 mg)

Description:

Moxiflox is an ophthalmic antibiotic solution containing moxifloxacin, a broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone effective against various gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. It is used for the treatment of bacterial conjunctivitis and is supplied in a sterile, colorless 5 ml solution.

Indications for Use:

Topical treatment of purulent bacterial conjunctivitis caused by susceptible strains of bacteria.

Dosage and Method of Administration:

For ocular use only. Do not inject or use intraocularly.

Adults (including elderly ≥65 years): Instill one drop into the affected eye(s) three times daily.

Duration: Treatment usually lasts 5 days and may be continued for 2–3 more days. Reassess diagnosis if there is no improvement after 5 days.

Pediatric patients: No dosage adjustment required.

Renal/hepatic impairment: No dosage adjustment required.

Avoid contamination of the dropper tip. Do not touch the eye, eyelid, or any surface.

Occlude the nasolacrimal duct for 2–3 minutes after instillation to reduce systemic absorption.

If using other ophthalmic products, maintain an interval of at least 5 minutes.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to moxifloxacin, other quinolones, or any excipients.

Precautions:

Discontinue if signs of hypersensitivity occur.

Prolonged use may result in overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms, including fungi.

Caution in patients with tendon disorders due to rare systemic fluoroquinolone-associated risks.

Not recommended for gonococcal conjunctivitis or ophthalmia neonatorum.

Avoid wearing contact lenses during treatment.

Limited data for use in neonates and children under 2 years with Chlamydia trachomatis.
