Gatifloxacin blocks the enzymes DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV in bacterial cells, which disrupts replication and transcription processes, leading to the death of microorganisms.
Effective against most gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria that cause ophthalmic infections, including:
• Staphylococcus aureus
• Streptococcus pneumoniae
• Haemophilus influenzae
• Pseudomonas aeruginosa
Indications for use:
• Bacterial conjunctivitis
• Stye
• Blepharitis
• Keratitis
• Prevention of infections after ophthalmic interventions
Method of administration and dosage:
Instill 1-2 drops in the affected eye(s) every 2 hours for the first 2 days, then 1-2 drops in the affected eye(s) 3-4 times a day for the next 5 days
