Fortymox 0.5 eye drops 10 ml
Composition:
Each 1 ml of solution contains:
• Moxifloxacin hydrochloride — 5.45 mg, equivalent to 5 mg (0.5%) moxifloxacin base.
Fortymox 0.5% is an antibacterial eye drop for the treatment of ophthalmic infections.
A topical antibiotic from the fluoroquinolone group, intended for the treatment and prevention of bacterial eye infections.
Pharmacological properties:
Moxifloxacin is the active ingredient that belongs to the class of antibiotics known as quinolones, specifically the fourth generation of this family, which works by eliminating bacteria causing infections and inflammation by disrupting bacterial DNA synthesis, reducing inflammation and related symptoms.
Effective against most gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, and others.
Indications:
• Bacterial conjunctivitis
• Infections of the anterior segment of the eye
• Prevention of infections after ophthalmic surgeries or injuries.
Dosage and administration:
Adults:
• Instill 1 drop into the affected eye 4 times a day
• The usual treatment course is 5–7 days but may be extended as recommended by a doctor.
