Angiofox is a prolonged-release nitrate used for long-term treatment of cardiovascular conditions. It causes vasodilation, reduces myocardial oxygen demand, and improves coronary blood flow. Effective in preventing angina attacks and managing heart failure when used with other agents.
Indications for Use
Long-term treatment of coronary artery disease
Long-term treatment and prevention of angina pectoris (including post-myocardial infarction)
Chronic congestive heart failure (in combination therapy)
Pulmonary hypertension
Dosage and Method of Administration
Swallow whole with water; do not chew.
Usual dose: 1 capsule in the morning.
If needed, increase to 2 capsules taken at once in the morning.
Dosage should be individualized based on clinical response.
Do not discontinue abruptly—taper gradually.
Not recommended for children (safety not established).
No dose adjustment necessary in elderly.
Use with caution in severe hepatic or renal impairment.
Contraindications
-Hypersensitivity to nitrates or excipients
-Acute myocardial infarction with low filling pressure
-Shock, vascular collapse
-Severe hypotension (systolic BP < 90 mmHg)
-Hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy
-Constrictive pericarditis, cardiac tamponade
-Aortic/mitral valve stenosis
-Elevated intracranial pressure
-Severe anemia
-Closed-angle glaucoma
-Severe hypovolemia
-Concurrent use of PDE-5 inhibitors (e.g., sildenafil, tadalafil)
