Mavilor is a selective beta1-adrenergic receptor blocker with vasodilating properties, used to lower blood pressure and treat chronic heart failure. It decreases heart rate, reduces vascular resistance, and improves cardiac function, particularly in elderly patients.
Indications for Use
Treatment of essential hypertension.
Treatment of stable mild to moderate chronic heart failure in elderly patients (≥70 years) as an add-on to standard therapies.
Dosage and Method of Administration
Hypertension:
Adults: 5 mg daily (2 tablets) at the same time of day. Effect observed within 1–2 weeks; optimal response may take 4 weeks.
In renal impairment and elderly (>65 years): starting dose is 2.5 mg daily.
Contraindicated in hepatic impairment.
Not recommended in children and adolescents <18 years.
Chronic Heart Failure (CHF):
Start with 1.25 mg once daily. Titrate up at 1–2 week intervals to 2.5 mg, then 5 mg, and up to a maximum of 10 mg daily depending on tolerance.
