Pantoprazole sodium (equivalent to pantoprazole) — 40 mg.
Pantoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor used to reduce hydrochloric acid secretion in the stomach. It is used to treat acid-related gastrointestinal diseases, including gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), gastric ulcers, and Zollinger–Ellison syndrome.
Pharmacological properties:
• Inhibits the activity of the proton pump (H⁺/K⁺-ATPase) in the parietal cells of the stomach
• Rapidly and effectively reduces gastric acid secretion
• Promotes ulcer healing and reduces symptoms of heartburn and pain.
Indications for use:
• Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
• Erosive esophagitis
• Gastric and duodenal ulcers
• Zollinger–Ellison syndrome and other pathological hypersecretory conditions
• As part of combination therapy for Helicobacter pylori.
Dosage and administration:
• Adults:
The usual dose is 40 mg once daily, 30–60 minutes before a meal.
For ulcers and erosions, the treatment course may last from 4 to 8 weeks.
For Zollinger–Ellison syndrome, dose titration (up to 240 mg/day) is individualized under medical supervision.
