Nevxal Forte is an anti-inflammatory ophthalmic drug from the group of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
It is used for the prevention and treatment of inflammation and pain following ophthalmic surgeries, as well as for other non-infectious inflammatory eye conditions.
Pharmacological properties:
Nepafenac is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) with pronounced analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects.
After instillation into the eye, nepafenac rapidly penetrates the cornea and is converted into its active form, amfenac, which inhibits the cyclooxygenase (COX) enzyme.
This leads to a decrease in the synthesis of prostaglandins — the main mediators of pain, inflammation, and swelling.
The drug reduces inflammation, hyperemia, swelling, and pain, and is especially effective after cataract surgery.
Indications for use:
• Prevention and treatment of postoperative inflammation following cataract surgery
• Reduction of pain and discomfort after ophthalmic procedures
• Temporary relief of inflammation in non-infectious eye diseases (as prescribed by a doctor).
Dosage and administration:
• Adults (including elderly patients):
– Instill 1 drop into the affected eye once daily, starting 1 day before surgery and continuing for 14 days after surgery (as prescribed by a doctor).
• In case of pronounced inflammation, the doctor may temporarily increase the frequency to 2–3 times per day.
Shake the bottle well before use.
After instillation, close the eye and gently press the tear duct for 1–2 minutes to reduce systemic absorption.
The interval between applying other eye preparations should be at least 5 minutes.
